The unique green colour of the Tamegroute pottery is due to the baking process, whereby a combination of silicon, copper and manganese are used in the earth ovens. This technique is known by a few families from the small village Tamegroute. Tamegroute lies in Southern Morocco, right on the border with the Sahara. In the village there are 7 potteries, each from a different family. All Tamegroute items have three marks as the items are piled up in the oven. Each item is unique and has its own perfect imperfections.
