Zanafi rugs

Zanafi Kilim rugs are skillfully hand knotted by women from the Zanafi tribe in the High Atlas Mountains from Morocco. For hand knotting these Zanafi Kilim rugs the Amazigh women use natural colors of wool: black and ivory white. These contrasting colors make this Zanafi rugs so unique and balanced.

The patterns that are knotted into these rugs are very similar to Beni Ouarain rugs: diamond shapes, triangles or squares are the most common patterns. These patterns might seem coincidently chosen for decorative reasons, but these symbols have actual meanings in the Amazigh language.

As these rugs are knotted by hand, they have a totally different texture and feel to it. These elegant rugs are also perfect during Summer and Spring.
